Saying Goodbye To Genital Warts

Is it that you have noticed some outgrowths in your genital area? Do they itch and make you uncomfortable? If the answer to both above questions is yes, then there is a chance that you are a victim of genital warts. The genital warts are caused by viruses and unfortunately a perfect cure for the itchy disease is yet to be discovered. However, this is not to say that there are no therapeutic methods available for the same – because there most certainly are.
As many as 90 percent of genital warts are caused by two type of human papilloma virus– HPV-6 and HPV-11. These are both low risk viruses as far as the potency of inducing carcinoma is concerned. General warts and genital warts show a wide demarcation. The former are caused by other strains of human papilloma virus which affect the skin in general.
Scratches or abrasions present near the mucosal surface of genitalia skin are the points of entry of the virus during sexual intercourse. The HPV spends some time in the body of infected individual before it manifests itself – this time may be a few months to even a few years. In the meanwhile, there is a 70% chance that this infected individual transmits the virus to other sex partners, who in turn may develop the disease in 3-4 months. The other name for genital warts is venereal warts.
Generally, genital warts are painless eruptions but they may become large and itchy and cause discomfort in the genital region. The average size of a single genital wart is 1 mm but it may be measured in centimeters if the genital warts are in a cluster. Main symptoms include painless itching, bumps, and fluid discharge. Appearance of genital warts shows no sex-based difference. Oral sex between healthy and infected individual may cause formation of warts inside the mouth of the healthy partner.

How to get rid of genital warts completely? That’s one of the biggest questions, which is still hanging in the dark. Scientists world over are constantly devising novel techniques to wipe out this irritating menace. Alas! The genital wart cures that have currently been devised cannot destroy the virus completely. If you do not treat these genital warts, they will remain the way they are and sometimes they may also disappear on their own. Some scientists believe that the human body has the power to destroy this virus on its own, but how is still not known.
Some herbal products also serve as genital warts cure and can be utilized in the treatment of genital warts. Vitamin E containing oils serve as a common one such method. Apply this oil over the warts and put some chopped garlic pieces over it. Cover the whole thing up with adhesive tape. Even onion juice has been known to cure genital warts. Prior to it, onion juice requires the dissolution of some salt to it. This mixture now needs to be applied to the affected area.
o Other common herbal remedies for genital warts include:
o Application of the milky juice from figs (two to three times a day)
o Apply apple cider vinegar using a cotton swab
o Eat foods that contain beta-carotene and folic acid.

The commonest ingredients of the prescriptions of genital warts patients may contain medicines like Imiquimod, Podophyllin and podofilox, and Trichloroacetic acid or TCA. Imiquimod is sold as Aldara, a cream based preparation. The cream has a bolstering effect on the body’s immunity. It eggs on our immune system to fight the onslaught of the warts. During usage of this cream, sex related activities are prohibited. Podophyllin and Podofilox are plant origin chemicals that destroy the wart tissue. TCA burns away the warts.
Trichloroacetic acid needs to be applied under medical supervision only. A doctor or a nurse is the best suited individual for the purpose. The acid tends to corrode the human skin, hence the need for precaution. The TCA method of wart removal should not be done at home – the medical staff must be made a part of the procedure. Any other over-the-counter drug should be used only after taking medical advice.
An effective genital wart remover is one that removes the genital wart from the root. Though most genital wart removers cannot guarantee the complete destruction of the genital warts at least they provide you the necessary relief.
